If only there were a keyboard shortcut for that…
Excel has a vast range of keyboard shortcuts, and there have been a few added to the list over the years.
New ones introduced include:
- Open Power Query Editor: Alt + F12 (2022)
- Paste text without formatting: Ctrl + Shift + V (2022)
- Zoom in: Ctrl + Alt + + ⏐ Zoom out: Ctrl + Alt + - (2016)
- Apply Flash Fill: Ctrl + E (2013)
However, I’m sure there’s a commonly-used feature you wish had a shortcut.
Of course, you could use VBA to assign one to it. But c’mon, who wants to do that?
I personally wish Center Across Selection had a shortcut instead of having to open the Format Cells window and pick the option in the dropdown on the Alignment tab.
Before anyone points it out — yes — you can perform the sequence Ctrl + 1 > A > Tab > C > C > Return > Return to apply the formatting to a range of cells.
However, that’s a routine — not a shortcut.
Shortcuts don’t usually involve pressing more than two or three keys simultaneously.
So, what’s a keyboard shortcut you wish existed in Excel?
