Just got my iPhone battery replaced

Today, I went to the Apple Store in Covent Garden to get my iPhone 15 Pro Max battery replaced.

I refuse to pay an arm and a leg for a newer model that merely has a better camera, so I went for the £95 option.

In the past, I’d always had my iPhone batteries replaced by a local independent repair shop. Since they used third-party batteries, I lost access to Battery Health statistics, and it didn’t save me much money either.

I’ve had my current iPhone since December 2023, and it’s had heavy daily use over that two-year-and-seven-month period. The battery seems to have been draining increasingly quickly over the last few months, despite its capacity being reported at 84%, where it has remarkably remained since February. In any case, I do make it a habit of keeping my iPhone between 40% and 80% as much as possible, helped by an external battery.

I checked in at the Genius Bar a few minutes before my 16:30 slot. Then I waited about 20 minutes before a Genius came over and went through a few formalities. He told me I’d need to come back at 18:40, so I handed over my iPhone.

I left the store, had a walk around Covent Garden, and watched some street magic from a magician who was clearly talented and pulled in a big crowd. However, there was an air of uneasiness about his confrontational style and the lewd comments he made along the way. It didn’t seem particularly appropriate, especially with so many children around. Nevertheless, I went for a pint afterwards.

Later, I returned to collect my iPhone a little earlier than anticipated, and the job was done.
