Excel has marching ants!
Ever heard of ‘marching ants’?
Although it’s not the most commonly used term in the Excel lexicon, it is more prevalent in graphic design.
In software like Photoshop, marching ants refers to the moving dashed line that appears when you use the marquee selection, lasso, or magic wand tool.
Excel-wise, you’ll see it when copying a cell or range or selecting one while constructing a formula. This can be directly in a cell, the formula bar, or other places such as the Conditional Formatting, Name Manager, and Create Table windows.
It feels a bit belated that I only came across this term a few weeks ago, but I’m glad I have. I’m not sure I ever really called it anything in the past.
Anyway, did you know what marching ants are (before I told you)?
P.S. Check out that awesome teamwork from the real ants! 🐜🐜🐜
