Beware of this frustrating bug in Excel
Want to crash Excel?
Of course you do, and there’s a concoction of things you can do to cause one (and frustration). ![]()
Reference the same range in GROUPBY’s row_fields and values arguments, along with using PERCENTOF in function and 0 in [total_depth], for Excel to freeze for a good few minutes, before eventually crashing.
The value in [field_headers] (3) has no impact.
E.g. =GROUPBY(A1:A6,A1:A6,PERCENTOF,3,0).
Both functions are only currently for Microsoft 365 Insiders on the Beta Channel, so it’s not exactly surprising a bug has been picked up.
Nevertheless, I thought I’d tell you anyway.
