Happy New Year!
It’s the first of January 2022, so let me start by wishing you all a Happy New Year!
Given how the past 1¾ years have panned out due to the COVID-19 pandemic, here’s hoping 2022 sees the gradual return of normality. (We can’t keep going on like this, right?)
I also hope to bring you more content than ever before. 2021 saw dozens of published articles, tens of thousands of views amassed, and often appearing high up on Google for many Excel-related search terms.
Moreover, search for ‘Excel’ on Medium and you will see my name fourth on the list of Top Writers.
When I started Medium in July 2020, I always intended to grow my follower base organically. I knew I could gain hundreds over a few months by participating in follow-for-follow schemes, but I wasn’t interested in that approach.
Instead, the growth from October 2020 — when I received my first follower — to October 2021 was slow, accumulating a total of just 67 followers. My monthly growth rarely got out of single figures, however, there’s clearly been an upsurge recently with an extra 109 in the last two months.
I don’t obsess about vanity metrics like follower count or views, but it is nice to see them increase. For me, they are a byproduct of the hard work I put in.
Alongside Medium, LinkedIn has been great for networking, sharing content, and building my personal brand. As a result, it has put me on the map and landed me freelance opportunities. I thoroughly recommend it.
To increase my footprint and overall reach, I will be launching a website in the coming months. This will house a duplicate of every Medium article, but there’ll also be additional features and other bells and whistles.
On a final note, thank you to everyone who has read my articles and social media posts. I will continue to create helpful content for you to consume whether you’re at work or home.
Hopefully, you can have a creative and productive year as well. Good luck.
